Mission
To promote and advance the physical, mental and social health of women throughout their lifespan, in Canada and globally, through advocacy for equality and human rights, scientific evidence, research and education.
Goals
The goals of the Canadian Foundation for Women’s Health are to:
- Through grants competition support innovative medical research that promotes women’s health’
- Promote women’s informed choice in health
- Promote knowledge mobilization in support of policy for improved women’s health
- Advocate for safe pregnancy and childbirth
- Enable conditions for high quality evidence-based gynaecological and obstetrical care based on equity, equality and respect.
Priorities
Based on the mission, the areas of focus of Canadian Foundation for Women’s Health are to:
- Support medical research on women’s health through competition-based grant funding.
- Promote women’s knowledge on health issues
- Support equitable access of women to health resources through advocacy
- Reduce maternal morbidity and mortality in Canada
- Assist in recognizing women’s rights in the world, respecting the importance of local context and expertise.
